Jay Majernik is the new drum/percussion instructor at Gray School of Music.
He has taught percussion for 25 years both in Illinois and Texas. Jay has taught in Junior High, Senior High and collegiate levels.
Mr. Majernik received his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from Eastern Illinois University and his Masters of Music in Percussion Performance from Southern Methodist University.

Always in demand as a performer, he plays in numerous classical, jazz, rock, musical theater and church settings. Recent performances include the Plano Symphony Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, Water Tower Theatre, Collin Theatre Center, New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, Daniel Rodriguez Band, and the Bob Snook Jazz Trio. Highlights include performing with the rock band Chicago, jamming with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and backing artists such as Larry Gatlin, The Lettermen, and numerous others.
Mr. Majernik is married to Laura Leigh. They have two future drummers: John who is eight, and Noah who is five. They enjoy gardening, watching sports, church activities, and Christopher Guest movies.
