Trophy and Ribbon Festivals
Gray School of Music holds two festivals every year – Halloween Festival in the Fall, and Art and Music Festival in the Spring. At a festival, students perform solo pieces by memory to a judge, who evaluates the performance and writes comments to help the students improve. Each student will receive a trophy / ribbon for participating at the festival. This is a motivating, challenging yet encouraging, and fun event that the children enjoy. Participation at the festival is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
The recital is held at the end of each semester – April/May in the Spring, and December in the Fall. This is a great opportunity for students to perform in front of an audience. It is also essential in promoting artistic development, as students learn from watching their peers while gain confidence and motivation through the recognition of their hard work. Teachers strive to make each recital a positive and enjoyable experience.
Shows, Events, Parties
Gray School of Music offers casual performances that are held frequently throughout the year. Students who participate in our extra curricular activities enjoy the relaxed setting and often use them as practice for the Festivals and Recitals. Events will be held on Zoom or live which ever is necessary at the time. Light refreshments are served during live events.
The Honors Recital is held once a year in the Spring. This is a joint recital that features students from many teachers. Students that are selected to participate in this recital demonstrate excellence in musicianship, and each is recognized with a special trophy.
