Mike Hanes – Guitar and Drum Teacher for Gray School of Music
Mike Hanes is an accomplished guitarist and drummer. Mike has had a passion for music since childhood. He began participating in all the school’s music bands and even joined a garage band and played at school functions before attending college. Mike earned his Bachelor and Master degrees from Dallas Baptist University. In addition, he attended Worship Team Academy at King’s University and the International Worship Leaders Institute where he met his wife Cherry at graduation. Cherry teaches voice and piano at the Gray School of Music. Mike and Cherry have performed numerous concerts, conferences, weddings, duets, and solos in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Mike has taught guitar and drums for over 10 years in his own studio and has played guitar and drums in church for many years. He has had students that have gone on to become singer/songwriter recording artists as well as some students just playing for fun. He helps lead worship at Grace Redeemer Community Church where his wife Cherry is Director of Music. Cherry teases that he is one of her utility musicians as he plays guitar, electric guitar, bass, and sings. Mike enjoys accompanying Cherry on classical guitar when she performs during advent season. One of his favorites is O Holy Night. Their dog Allegro likes to sing along during rehearsal.
