Let your child come experience the beautiful music of the violin or viola. At children’s strings lessons , your student will begin learning proper posture and way to hold the instrument and bow. As the child holds the violin, they will learn to pic and bow at the first lesson. Your teacher can guide you in the selection of a rental or the purchase of a violin.
Your child will as lessons continue to learn about bowing techniques, music-reading, rhythm and note recognition, playing of scales and arpeggios, solo pieces, and performance with a a piano accompanist. Music to be studied includes simple folk songs, classical repertoire, arrangement of popular songs, and holiday music. Advanced level students may be selected to participate in ensemble performances at recitals. As the skill level increases, mystical beautiful music will enter your home. The whole family can enjoy the sounds of a stringed instrument.
Your student will be taught by a skilled, experienced teacher who has earned a graduated degree in strings. All violin and viola students are required to bring their own instrument to each lesson. Come play the violin at Gray School and create beautiful music.
